PS 46 Celebrates Hispanic Heritage
PS 46 had been hard at work getting ready for our Hispanic Heritage Celebration, and we couldn’t be happier with our event. The day began with assemblies from the younger and older grades in which they showcased some songs and dances that they learned. After the assemblies, students and families were invited to our annual food tasting in which teacher and parent volunteers brought food and snack for our students to enjoy.
Later in the afternoon, our very own music teacher Mrs. Laberge, had her husband and his band Orchestre L’ Proffeta come and play a concert for us. The band played cumbia, merengue, and salsa music. We also had a light specialist come to our school who put on a great light show during the concert with our brand new lighting system.
The day ended with our new WE DAY Slimesale. WE DAY focuses students on doing service learning, or learning how they can give back to the world through meaningful activities. Our WE DAY committee decided to sell slime, with all proceeds going directly to help people in Puerto Rico who were affected by the recent bad weather. The slime sale raised almost $400. Thank you to all of those that participated.
